What is it?
Most of my job requires me to be in close contact with our agencies. These agencies are media buying, graphic design, printing and promotional material agencies. All of them help Bosch in achieving their marketing activities and play a big role in the success of a marketing plan. We need these agencies to support our various marketing activities.
What have I done?
In order to put most marketing plans into action I have to work closely with our agencies as they are supporting various activities. This means I am the point of contact for the agencies. I have to make sure that our needs are communicated well and that they will be met by the agency. I need to coordinate our schedule with the timelines of the agencies and ensure that all projects are completed on time. This can be quite a difficult task to achieve and it requires excellent organisation and communication skills.
What did I learn?
I learned how to drive cooperation between the agency and Bosch, communicate deadlines and ensure deadlines are met. I also developed an understanding of the timing required by agencies and how to develop an appropriate time plan.
I also learned how to appropriately communicate with our agencies and employ a business orientated language. An important skill that I was able to take away is how to communicate a marketing proposal and push for deadlines whilst still keeping an adequate language. This also helped me to deepen relationships with our agencies and create a good external work environment. I learned how to work effectively with people from diverse business backgrounds.
At first this was a new situation to me and it was challenging to manage time appropriately and communicate with the agencies. It can sometimes be daunting to communicate a deadline and ensure that it is met. From these experiences I now have the confidence to communicate clearer and more direct.
How did it help me achieve my goal?
I was able to get a feel for a professional work environment and how to deal with external agencies and organisations. This has helped me to develop a more professional approach at work. I am now more confident when it comes to dealing with other organisations and expressing requirements on behalf of Bosch. I understood how important it is to always be respectful and apply a voice that is in line with Bosch. I found it important to remember that I am representing the company I work for when I am dealing with other external companies. Working with agencies has helped me to manage time and set goals in a professional environment. I will be able to apply this knowledge in my future career as there will always be situations where I will have to deal and communicate with people. I will push to develop my professionalism even further throughout the reminder of my internship.
